And now I'm wondering...why do some people prefer to work in groups, and others alone? I don't fancy groups much myself--not 'less I can be in charge, but even then I think I'd get bored ordering others about. But lately I've witnessed th'benefits of working en masse; you get a lot more accomplished, for one. For second, it's just loads more fun ( Read more... )

Bellatrix, I gave you an honest answer without any intent to hurt you, and I am sorry to see that you have been so perturbed by it.

If anything, my choice was justified by Rabastan's behaviour. Was it really necessary for him to levitate the sugar because he didn't want you to touch me when you passed it around?

For that reason, if for none other, I shall content myself with the answer you received.

He really only levitated it for th'sake of convenience....

....then again, perhaps not.

But if he HADN'T done such a thing, would your answer have been different?

No, Bellatrix. It would have been the same. His timing for that ridiculous little trick was just perfect proof of something I might otherwise have had to explain.

But please understand that I am in no way declining the friendship of the Black family. I know you are astute enough to realize that I declined the proposition, not the company. The company was, with the exception of Rabastan, unparalleled.

And I value your friendship very, very much.

So does Narcissa.

I do hope you will allow me t'hold out hope that in time, you may have a change of heart. That little indulgence would do me very well, I think, yes, yes it would.

Bellatrix, is it an answer you want, or an indulgence?

Well, oh, AN ANSWER!!!1! But you've already given me one and since that answer was no I just meant indulge me if I happen to go on hoping that you might one day change your mind but I suppose this is your way of saying that you won't change you mind, right then? So I will stop hoping that you will change your mind and you will not have t'indulge me after all. At least I will stop PUBLICALLY hoping...privately, I can't make any promises.
