Shortly after I had my run-in with that would-be robber, my friend Ogre installed glass block windows in my basement. We did two of the four windows, which was all I could afford at this time. He replaced the broken one, and the one on the street side of the house. I'll get to the other two before the winter really sets in.
Yesterday, I had a phone call from a local detective asking me if I would look at a line-up of suspects in local robbery cases. I agreed to, and she said she would be calling on me in a day or two. She phoned again today, and we made plans for her to come to my studio. She brought another detective who was unfamiliar with the case to actually show me the pictures of the suspects, as is the policy of the Cincinnati Police Department.
I looked at 6 different mugshots, and quickly narrowed it down to two. I took a few minutes and really inspected the faces. I was drawn to the one I had on the left hand side. The suspect looked a little more scruffy than the night I had encountered him, but the eyes were right. I told the interviewing detective what my choice was, and signed the page. The first detective came back into the room and she showed me another picture of the guy. She gave me a little of his history, and that yes, his name was Adam. That was the name that he told me as I was chasing him out of my yard!
There is a warrant out on the man now, as I was not the only complainant. I feel better about my security, and I know I was right in my actions. Karma is a bitch.
