Shenanigans
When I was a little, there was this obscure kids' game show on television called, SHENANIGANS. I thought it was funny and state of the art in entertainment at the time, but I was only four. what did I know?
My best friend, who lived down the street, and I used to turn the floor of her bedroom and hallway into the game show set and pretend we were contestants. We thought we were big stuff, copying what we watched on TV. We had game boards, toys and hand-drawn decorations all over the place, and I remember my friend's mom one afternoon, coming up the steps to the landing outside the bedroom door and seeing our primary-school-hand-made version of set designs taped across all the walls and all the game pieces scattered across the floor. You couldn't walk through the area because it was blanketed with so many playthings and papers. "Holly, Cut it out with these shenanigans!" she yelled.
Holly's mom had no clue that our shenanigans were really SHENANIGANS.
Today I searched on You Tube and found clips of that ridiculous show from 1965. Oh my how times have changed. Not only is the show corny and low-tech, the advertising is what today we might consider "politically incorrect".
Would you let your child play with a Time Bomb?
(If you don't want to watch the whole clip, FF to about two minutes and 40 seconds to see the commercial I'm referencing.)
