Susan fic!

May 31, 2008 18:00

On my "Gimme Prompts, Pretty Pretty Please" post (definitely still open to any and all comers) debacul asked for the Pevensies, and Susan in particular. I would just reply to her comment with this fic but...it got too long. Oops? :P

So!

Five times Susan almost remembered Narnia. )

fic, fic: the chronicles of narnia, narnia

I'M REALLY GLAD YOU LIKE IT! :D

I was quite nervous, haha. I don't write a lot of Susan.

stuck in the slightly backwards Narnia books and being punished for growing up

Susan has always been one of the saddest parts of the books for me, because she didn't really do anything WRONG. Just different. I don't know. [/inarticulate]

Thank you so much, for the prompt and the compliments. :]

omg susan pevensie. I don't even know! even as a child, I was always confused and a little hurt by what happened to her, because I loved her so much and didn't quite understand; I think it's just a fundamental difference of philosophy wrt Christianity Lewis & I have -- basically the thing you blogged about recently, with religion or lack thereof resulting in people's ability to be "saved". but, without the allegory looming all over everything Narnia, she was promised to be a queen forever and then was forced back to her childhood again, and then was excluded from enjoying Narnia for all eternity after her siblings died in a train accident. and just HOMG THE INHERENT TRAGEDY OF IT ALL. gah.

/has a Susan problem

but yyyy, this was so greeeat. I don't even know how to tell you! I also enjoyed the indication of her special relationship with Peter, because that is something I particularly enjoy. <333

yeeeees. when i first read the books (where have my capital letters gone? goodness i'm a sheep. a lazy sheep, haha) i didn't even understand that they were a giant Christian allegory and i was so incredibly confused. i didn't see that she had done anything wrong. and, well, i still don't see that she did anything wrong. :/

and just HOMG THE INHERENT TRAGEDY OF IT ALL. gah.

EXACTY. and what about peter, edmund, and lucy? THEY'RE SPENDING ETERNITY WITHOUT HER! and they're just supposed to be happy forever, in Narnia, WITHOUT THEIR SISTER? and she's just living in the "real world," alone, and maybe remembering every once in a while what she's lost, BESIDES her siblings?

I also enjoyed the indication of her special relationship with Peter, because that is something I particularly enjoy. I am SUCH a peter fangirl. hee. so yes -- peter and susan, peter and edmund, peter and lucy. i love writing and ( ... )

I really liked this fic. It was so honest and real. And I feel the same way about Susan in the books. I never understood it either.

Oh, this is lovely! I ADORE the five things meme (people keep telling me it's overdone and out-of-fashion, and I want to smack them, because it's my favorite), and this is great. I love how you can see Susan growing up, and how she could never quite take herself out of The World, like the other three could, so she never stops being influenced by that. She, herself, would remember Narnia, but the world won't let her.

And oh, your fic is lovely. I love the way you use words. :D

Five things is just plain fun. I love these kinds of fics. :D

And this is only the second one that I've written, so, shiny new fun! ;]

She, herself, would remember Narnia, but the world won't let her.

That's pretty much exactly what I was going for, haha. I'm glad I hit it. :]

And oh, your fic is lovely. I love the way you use words. :D

Thank yoooooooou. *blushes* :]

I utterly love this. I've never really been in the Narnia fandom (oh my lord, I'm jumping in now) and I DUNNO ASDJLKSDFKLJFDASADFJKSADJFKSL. It's brilliant and perfect, and Susan, and I love this line: "Edmund, so careful and quiet but sometimes - sometimes his voice commands attention, and even Susan must bow to his superior logic." because I have a soft spot for Edmund, and Susan.

My love for this, it has no boundaries.
