So apparently I know
this guy. He facebooked me before he came to UW-Madison because he liked the books I listed. Lolz, he's a trip. I worry, though. He reminds me a lot of my other friend who lost touch with reality while at college.
Yesterday, we went to this awesome
art exhibit. (Sorry, it's all Espanish.) It was the top five winners of a contest sponsored by this Spanish bank, and I actually agree with who won. It was this woman who had
agoraphobia so bad that she experimented with ways to divide up the space in her own house. (Christ, never heard of that before.) Then, she took it to the streets, and discovered that people respected said boundaries. (Like, she would lay down some cloth triangles on the beach and people would set up their stuff inside of them and not go outside of them.) So as she realized how much people unconsciously respect arbitrary spatial limits, she decided it was dumb. So, she made a movie about people dancing at the mall. On top there were like, cute mainstream people who were all dancing the same, and on the bottom there were "alternative" looking people doing all kinds of kuh-raazy flips and whatnot. Because those groups of people already realize that arbitrary social rules are dumb, but everyone can... I can't describe it, but it was really quite inspirational. Also, she had a bunch of pictures of typical housewife scenes where the housewives were wearing rings that looked like their houses.. 'cause they never really leave them at home anyway. There were four others, but this was the coolest one.
Paris was awesome last weekend. I visited a friend, and met her older sister's four year old child, who I had no idea existed. Super cute, super mature. A testament to how good a nineteen year old mother can actually be. We hung out a bunch.. I want to go back to visit again after school's over, 'cause I have like three weeks before my mom and sisters get here.
I feel like I'm traveling a lot, but it's nothing compared to the other people here. There's a four-day weekend and I know like, one other person staying home. Ah, well. I'll get to know her better. Which is good since the Triana crew seems to be completely uninterested in me. Grah.
