Merry Christmas

First off, I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday that wasn't filled with too much fret or nagging relatives.

My own Christmas was quietly spent with family. We decided to have it a day early this year because my brother's girlfriend had to work on Christmas Day. So we exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve night. I think everyone got some good ones this year. I was given Assassins Creed 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Gears of War 2. Also a friend gifted me Poker Night At The Inventory over Steam, and over the course of two days I've gotten the gist of how to play Texas Hold 'Em (I've even won a few games!)

The parents got a Blue Ray player, so I've had some first hand experience with it. HD is indeed a noticeable difference, mostly in the vibrancy of colors. I'm sorely tempted to delve into Blue Ray myself, even though I suspect it's not going to last; Besides, I've said that if I ever got a Blue Ray player, it would be a PS3, and I've already mentioned that I'm not interested in getting one. I'm really satisfied with my X-Box 360 and between it and the PC my gaming needs have been met. (The Wii has become the red-headed stepchild of my console family. Online services suck, and as far as specs go it doesn't seem to be much more than a glorified after market gamecube. Most games are shovel ware and the few that aren't are stupidly expensive, even used. It can't even play DVD's. It was a complete waste of money.)

Aside from the usual holiday materialism, it also snowed! Our first White Christmas since moving back to South Carolina, if I'm not mistaken. It's snowed here before (increasingly does it every year. It used to be unheard of, except in the mountains), but never on Christmas. Usually we get our worse winter weather in January. We had a gentle snowfall that increased overnight but didn't lose power or anything like we typically do. So overall a pretty comfortable white Christmas! :D

Not sure what else to add. Saw Tron, the screenwriters blew it. Saw How To Train Your Dragon, which was a fantastic film. Got Fallout: New Vegas and Dragon Age Ultimate Edition for myself over Steam (Love those holiday sales!). I plan to pick up a used copy of the first Assassins Creed on the recommendation of my brother, and get the new remastered Back To The Future DVD's. Going to try not to spend too much, though it is sorely tempting!

Actually, what I really need to do is get an entertainment center. My media collection is growing too quickly and I'm running out of space to put things. Ideally, I'd have a library set aside for such things, but it'll be a while before I have my own house. I am getting there though, slowly but surely. If everything doesn't collapse in 2012, I suspect I'll have enough of a nest egg to support myself by then. 2011 will be spent paying off the remainder of my debts and preparing for such a move, either into apartment or an abode of my own, though the latter is extremely doubtful.

Anyways...Happy Holidays! Peace and cheer to all!

Here's a review I wrote for Gears of the Apparatus' convention exclusive dance mix album.

Ready for some nightmares? 7 terrifying prehistoric creatures that survived into the modern age.

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. And these six true stories prove that it's also sometimes too awesome for movies.

Oh yeah, and speaking of prehistoric beasts, they discovered a new species of dinosaur a while back in Utah.
