It's done

These past few weeks starting from Valentine's weekend have been rough, and not just because I'm still single. Walgreens has put me up full time at night now, so between both jobs, I've only been getting four hours of sleep every day. Problems at Walgreens have been interrupting my work pace, but they're not the sort of things that can't be helped. I still get yelled at for not making rate though, which is worrisome.

Fortunately, to help me be better able to cope I have left my job cleaning the factory in favor of working at Walgreens full time. With plenty of rest and more time to myself I should have no problem staying on top of my game there. I hope. Even though it was just cleaning up a factory of spilled transmission fluid, I rather enjoyed working there. The people were nice and the management was the most flexible management I have ever worked for. Pay and benefits are both better at Walgreens though. I'm hoping the payoff in the end will be worth everything I had to go through to get my foot in the door.

It snowed on Valentines day. We got a veritable 3 feet here. It was too powdery to do anything with, but it was fun to walk around in at least. I did my usual snow-day tradition of walking up to the nearest restaurant while it was still snowing. Got caught out in the dark when I left the place, which was an experience in itself. The roads by our house completely froze over, to the extent that you probably could have ice skated on them. Someone left their front bumper in the woods by our home; mom says he was tearing down the road at top speeds in the morning, but when he came back in the afternoon, he was going grandma-slow.

As for V-day itself, it was uneventful as one might have guessed. Though I learned a long time ago that the best way to spend "Single's Awareness Day" is to keep oneself busy. I managed to do that, playing three separate DJ sessions throughout the day on Second Life, followed by a ripping weekend of our new setting over at ceg_lylat . We've actually played the original story out to it's end, and now we're moving into a different one. It's really amazing how tight we've all gotten, although jumping into new characters from our old ones we've been playing so long takes some getting used to.

Haven't had time to look for a car lately, but that's still high on my list of priorities. The prospect of more time to myself to do some searching and follow-up, combined with more money from a better job should make this goal a lot easier for me to achieve. I should definitely have a vehicle before summer, God willing.

Other than that, I've been fine. Lethargic and addled with an IQ drain and a hit to my general health, but otherwise fine.

Here's a review I wrote a while back, for the original Halloween film. A classic, that one.

Now I've seen everything. It seems someone has invented an electronic cigarette, which somehow gets around public anti-smoking bans.

And what do you do when you come down with food poisoning after eating at a restaurant?

In the latest example of draconian DRM, UbiSoft has switched to a system that requires complete and total net connection at all times just to play a game. Gee, I wonder how that is going to work out for them? This is why I don't buy some games on the computer, or don't buy some games at all.
