My father is a judge. He is an arbiter of Human Law, enforcing the code that defines our very society. This is no mean task - human law, after all, is the beacon of civilization, the pact that transforms the civilian into the citizen. It is the rule of equity, insuring freedoms and rights, maintaining order. Thus, those that enforce it must be intelligent, reasonable, and judicious.
My mother is a chaplain. She is a figure of God's Law, translating the officiousness of dogma into relatable, accessable forms. This is no mean task - religious law, after all, is a presentation of our perfect selves, a set of ideals sacred to those who would bear them. It is the duty to a higher state, beyond ego, ruled by the nobility of kindness and love. Thus, those that present it must be compassionate, gentle and wise.
I work at Zellers, where the lowest price is the law.
