IMVU! (I swear I don't work for them...)
Ok, I have a new obsession: imvu.com! I sent invitations to most of you yesterday.
If you don't know what it is, it's an uber-customizable messaging service that allows you to create 3D avatars. When you send an IM or chat with someone, you're in a 3D environment (apartment, coffeehouse, etc.), you control the way your avatars interact, and your words appear in little thought bubbles above your heads. Like the Sims or a cartoon! I'd like to chat with you guys that way...please join.
The part that is getting kind of addicting for me is the catalog. You can try items on your avatar in a 3d dressing room. It's like shopping, but I'm THIN again!!! (They do have maternity stuff, though, just search "pregnancy.") At first I thought the catalog was dumb because you have to "pay" for items you want, but then I found out you can use credits, and you get free credits all the time -- 1000 for signing up, 50 for browsing the "new items" section each day, and up to 5000 just for chatting for 4 consecutive days. I can do that!
