Vietnam was a lot of fun. It's definitely going good places I think- an educated population, safe, some English (although pronunciation is as a rule abysmal), seemingly low corruption, ambitious, lots of young people... see it as my bet for the next Asian success story.
On the final day I did all the war museums. Learnt about battles like Dien Bien Phu which I had never heard of but which Vietnamese consider the most important of the war. Conspicuously almost nothing about the first Tet offensive. Also, no indication of huge carnaige- you would think from the museum it was bloodless and glorious, from brilliant victory to brilliant victory.
