The doctor wants to induce me this Friday; I'm trying to feel okay with it, but it's a struggle because I really had a "natural birth" in mind. I know these things change, I just wish there was a more valid reason than the medically accepted "you're about to enter 41 weeks, so we should schedule an induction for Week 41+1 as you are post-date and there are 'risks.'"

However, based on when I think conception actually occurred, I think I'm in Week 39 right now and not Week 40 whereas - based on an "almost too late" first trimester ultrasound - baby's gestational age puts me at (seemingly) after 40 weeks. It was this dating ultrasound - which incurred much controversy - that also determined the current gestational age.

I suppose I should trust that ultrasound because if I think I'm one week behind (or at least a few days behind the expected gestational age), then the first ultrasound tech's insistence that "the baby was too big for the test" was even more egregious and cannot possibly point to an error in ultrasound dating (since her words would have implied I was a week or more ahead of expectation) whereas the second tech had no issues completing the test.

Pregnancy: the imperfect kind of science for which even seasoned medical professionals must use "intuition" lol v_v
