Today was looking to be a pretty shitty day. All of my classes except for german and english were cancelled. I spent four blocks free looking for someone to talk to. No one was found. I read about half of The Life of Pi. Feeling a bit off.
Then Herr Buchhart, the orchestra teacher, saw me. His eyes widened. "Ich habe ein fagott für dich!" he said. And, lo and behold, above was an old, wooden bassoon complete with reed and strap such as I could not find anywhere else in Germany. That made my day nice quite quickly.
Of course, when I practiced... not so nice. Positively ugly noises came out. I have to get used to this instrument, memorise as many scales as possible, memories fingering up to high G, get a good tone out of the instrument, and get some handle on the orchestra music. (Beethoven, of course). Shyla, if you're reading this, HELP!!!
How embarrasing it's going to be in Orchestra on Friday doesn't really bother me. I have a bassoon, and I finished my science homework. I have chocolate, and I just came back from a run. The music is good. Hell, give me wine and women and I'd be set!
