I figure I'd take advantage of the confusion right after the Valentine's day "party" and ventured east to check up on Mum. Traveling this time of year is still pretty safe because the ground hasn't thawed yet, but I had to dip into my savings Mr. Waller sent me for my birthday and I hate using his money.
Actually, the main reason why I left was because I heard a tip from one of the tradesmen hanging around the armory that Riou was spotted near Duck Village, so why not kill two birds with one stone and investigate? Okay, that was a bad pun, I know. The innkeeper at Duck Village didn't have much to tell me, but the inn was having a special on pie, and I really like mince pie which might be why Riou didn't stick around, if he ever really was there. At least I got some good notes on the village chief.
Unfortunately, it looks like Mum went out a month ago and hasn't been back since. Mr. Waller and a few other of her tenants were the last to see her, and Mr. Waller was the one who sent back my letters. I got to see Dad too, for a bit -- [viciously scratched out] I want to investigate more on her disappearance, but my place is at Budehuc, especially with all the mysterious mysteries popping up. I've decided to drop the spiked drink case because I'm going to focus on Tai Ho's case and the SDIS could use a wake up call which might take a lot of time.
Seeing as how Futch is in no shape to give anyone lessons, Juan is taking Eugene off to train in 1970 the mountains, and Sharon is still sick, I'll have to keep myself busy with some of my smaller cases until things return to normal. Maybe I'll investigate Futch's plight for a while.
