I woke up about a hour ago from a very bizarre dream. There were multiple framed pictures sold at one of those cheapo stores like Big lots that were one of those ones that you flip and it shows a different picture. Except that they moved like those pictures on Harry Potter and were kind of big.
The one that intrigued me was this one that showed running white horses and when you flipped it, it showed these creepy white squids in very dark water. (If anyone that knows me knows that I love squid as food and as animals.) Then they had several pictures of big cats as mermaids. Their mer tails were furry and matched their markings. I remember a leopard (jaguar?) and a tiger one.
Then there was this Asian chick whose screen name was Red Panda and had this as her internet shtick. Now,
red pandas aren't exactly like panda bears, and have more of a resemblance to raccoons. But they have been one of my fave little known animals for years. Back to the dream, I decided to steal her screen name and change my sn at AIC.com to Red Panda Plunky. What "plunky" means is beyond me. I was planning on changing some of my other names too.
Enough about the dream.
The floors are done, but all my stuff is not all unpacked and the altars have yet to be rebuilt. If anyone remembers my grandfather's skydiving accident, he had to get a cast and all that fun stuff for the summer last year.(Ruined the Seattle trip a bit.) Well he had scheduled surgery a few days ago to remove screws. However, they found a lot of liquid around the screws and didn't know if it was a infection or not. So stayed in the hospital, he did. He just finally got out today. On a side note, in preparation for his surgery he got a Harry Potter cane that is a replica of Lucius Malfoy's. it has the concealed weapon of a wand. You twist the head and out pops a wand.
I got to take my College Placement Test. A 98 in reading comprehension, a 80 something in sentence structure, and some puny 21 and 25's in my math portions. This means, kids, yes I have to go to Mickey Mouse math courses. Frankly, I am surprised i scored so high in algebra because I don't know any algebra! I just guessed most of the time because i knew the evil math classes were coming no matter what. I'm afraid though, classes won't start until November.... Still have finical aid to get through though.
In the meantime I am thinking of volunteering at the
Big Cat Sanctuary of Tampa. You know how fucking awesome it would be to work with big cats? =^_^= I am very excited about this. :-3
I'm also excited that I will be taking a trip to Orlando soon on October 11th for
Wah Lum, Kung Fu. In celebration of our founder in America, grandmaster P. Chan's birthday. (The name if funnier for those of you who are Ranma 1/2 fans!) It will be held at the Wah Lum Temple. (Yes, they have a actually temple.) Festivities of Chinese food, (including calamari!) Kung Fu demos, and traditional dancing will be had. I will take pictures and update this journal.
Speaking of squid.. I went to this my fave Jap restaurant and they served a squid (seafood) salad. I believe the squid was raw, because it was cold. it was served on this small platter. (Everything has to be compact from Japan.) And I admit I was hesitant to eat it at first. But it was like really, REALLY godly. I love it. Proving that I love squid served in all sort of strange ways.
To commemorate 9/11, by the way, we are now changed to the color blue on our uniforms at work. 9/11 was great. We had food and of course we had a few minutes of silence to reflect on the events. I got to go to a town hall meeting for the first time too.
Lastly, I want to introduce everyone to
Industrial powers. A web comic started by my friend
kivrin_9 &
saharda . The
I.Powers yahoo group's description reads:
Industrial Powers is a webcomic written by Ed VanDerJagt with art by Karin Muether. It is set in modern day Arizona and it involves people with superpowers who use their powers constructively... and some who don't.
The comic is seen primarily through the eyes of the superpowered members of the local police department. It explores the question: What if people with superpowers were picked up by the industries that could most use them?
