The thousand words I owe you for that picture

So, I'm okay. Stiff neck, banged-up knee, a couple of broken nails, still unemployed AND have no car, but I'm okay. Clearly, my poor car is not.

Long story short: I got rear-ended. I was coming back from the supermarket--the second supermarket I've been to today, who knew there was no produce left on the Main Line?--when a big, white van that was going way too fast failed to realize that I was a) not moving and b) signaling to turn left. My car was pushed clean through the intersection; I was thrown against the steering wheel (I do not know why the airbag didn't deploy) and then back against the seat so hard that it broke. The back window smashed and spread broken glass over the back seat, four lanes, and the front of the other car. Fortunately, there must have been a cop right behind her, because we had lights & sirens before I had a chance to stop hyperventilating and figure out why I was flat on my back. The cops, witnesses, EMT and tow truck driver were wonderful, and managed to help me remain (for me) mostly calm.

As I said, I'm okay. There were two ambulances on scene--a passenger in the other car was taken to the hospital, but as I think I saw them walking around, I am assuming it was nothing too serious. I'm currently icing my knee, and will probably have a gorgeous bruise where I hit it on the underside of the dashboard.

Thankful to be alive, amused at my ride home in a police car (a whole 2 blocks), and glad to have my husband home to take care of me (not to mention the world's best insurance company, I love you so much USAA!!).

Still, this is a whole can of worms I do not want to deal with: insurance claims, buying a new car, and telling my family why I can't take Grandma to get a root canal on Friday.

angst, bitchfest
