Despite (or maybe because of?) not having signed up, I ended up writing three treats this year! Not sure if that means I should have signed up anyway, because there's still a huge difference between getting to pick your own prompt and getting one assigned, stress-level-wise. Galaxy Quest: I did my own rewatch a few months ago and have been itching to write fic ever since, so Yuletide arrived with perfect timing! It probably says a lot about me and how my fannish history has affected my tastes that I consider Alexander to be one of Rickman's sexiest roles? *g* Not quite as hot as his Snape, but by a very narrow margin, and way above, say, his Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility. Ah, that strange thing called alien love. Still, give me Spock over Kirk and G'Kar over Sheridan any time! :)
Glad you liked the Twin Peaks ficlets as well! They're both rather different from my regular TP fare, I think, not so much in theme but in execution. But I really enjoyed venturing outside my comfort zone for a bit, exploring familiar situations but with the twist of an altered perspective; Diane in particular was a joy to write.
And also because, whatever Albert and Truman and the others did to save Cooper, there's always the possibility that Diane will be the one to bring him back to near normalcy in the end.
Those were my thoughts as well - although again, I found myself unable to carry the story past the point where I'd have to state explicitly whether or not Coop is going to be okay. In my headspace, in this story, I do believe he will, given time and support. One day, I really want to write a fic where I tackle the whole aftermath and all its moral implications, but I'm not sure I could manage it at this point. It's - a difficult nut to crack. But hey, it's good to have something to aspire to on the writing front!
