Babylon 5 fic: Fallout [Londo/G'Kar]

I promised, didn't I? *g* I hastened to finish this before the Porn Battle closed, so it's pretty short and may feel more rushed than usual, but  it's still Londo/G'Kar, complete with snark and tentacles!

Thank you! Londo/G'Kar was actually the pairing that got me into writing fic in the first place, if you can believe it. :) While I definitely agree this could have been a frightening fanon pairing, in reality it's so much better than that! I can honestly say that I haven't yet read a fic about these two that's anything short of amazing - the Archive of our Own has a lot of really great stuff, both gen and slash, with Andraste, Selena and Kangeiko as the most productive authors. All of their stories are just gorgeous, without exceptions, and there are a few other great authors up there as well. I'd be happy to provide recs if you find yourself in need of them!

And also - fanon pairing? Wasn't B5 full of Londo/G'Kar marriage jokes? Their love is canon, surely! :D

Oh man, I love how you write them as an established couple. I thought nothing could be better than the pre-relationship prickly yearning, but G'Kar's so-reluctant concern and tenderness, Londo's emotional distance coupled with affection--it's so complicated and so good. I also adore G'Kar's matter-of-factness about the tentacles--of course they'd be something he was used to here, but it's very hard to write tentacle sex without it feeling rather exotic. G'Kar's only interested in the tentacles because they belong to Londo, not because they're some kind of kinky alien thing (though clearly he also has a lot of fun with them, lol).

The last lines! Perfect! *melts*

Thank you! *beams* I have a really soft spot for those will-we-or-won't-we preslash scenarios as well, but then I wanted to write something related to Day of the Dead, and the established relationship just rolled out naturally. What also surprised me was how easily writing these two still comes to me - it's been a while since I did, and so I thought I'd have become really rusty at it, but - well, it didn't feel like that at all! Do you know the feeling where you're trying on an old piece of clothing you haven't worn for a long time and you've pretty much convinced yourself it won't fit you anymore, but then it turns out it does? Writing this ficlet was a little bit like that, so that was really great.

I wouldn't go so far as to say G'Kar's only reason for liking the tentacles is because they're Londo's - I'm sure he enjoys experimenting with them as well, because G'Kar is one kinky Narn, isn't he? *g* But I also kind of liked the idea that the sex would be something going on in the background, rather than the main point of the story

That was fast. And so perfectly cute despite being totally in character, it's almost frightening. Love how they have a long conversation while playing with each other's naughty bits and how they can't quite admit that they care for each other.

Does G'Kar sleeping with his gloves on have any base in canon, or is it just that Londo likes them? *g*

Thanks, I'm so glad that you liked it - and that I haven't lost my touch with either their voices or the tentacle bits, lol. :) About the gloves, I can't remember if we ever see G'Kar sleeping in a bed in the show, so I really couldn't say. Just like I see G'Kar as the kind of person who still sleeps with a knife under his pillow, I also see him as someone to be sleeping with gloves - maybe he has special ones for sleeping, with little holes for the fingers? *g* Or it could just be that Londo insists on him wearing them, of course! Because Londo is kinky like that. :)

One of the things I always loved about B5 is the characters were so well-drawn. I was huge ST:NG and DS9 fan until B5. This show just blew me away. Best EVER TV sf! And yes, all the interplay between characters. I still like all ST, but it pales in comparison. They always held back a little too much.

Oh, I agree - I discovered B5 only a few years ago, whereas I've been a Star Trek fan almost for as long as I can remember, but in the end B5 was what really pulled me into fandom, and LJ. And it's still on my list of favorite shows of all time.
