My favorite quote of the day.

Jul 01, 2009 12:38

The beginning of the Mahabharata, or one of the most important epic/holy books of India states this:

What is said herein can be found elsewhere.
What is not said herein does not matter.

I think Western religions can learn from this mentality about their holy books. I mean I just think it's a GENIUS way to undertake what you consider holy--ie, "What is holy is in this book, but it is not only in this book. You can find it with common sense. If it isn't holy, and isn't in this book, it's probably less important than you thought it was."

Not that it's true or untrue. Just more important or less important. Now THAT is a good way to look at what religion and holy books can teach you. (Though I guess you can bring them together by asking "What is truth and is it what creates holiness?")

Anyhow I am officially a resident of the suburbs now. I found that quote on my wall, amongst the old decorations that I had left up. Neato. :D

I also went to bed at midnight and woke up at noon. Ahhhh the good days. I feel so renewed from when I used to go to school.
