ugh... the things i do for my job.
sunday i was running around trying to find coverage for the afternoon daycare shift. of course, this is in addition to the other stuff i needed to do as MOD(though, minimal on weekends). i did find someone to cover, but that meant that he would be at the club from 8am-6pm. i tried to find someone so he didnt have to do it, but had to settle for him staying longer and was, at the least, thankful he did it.
monday morning, it felt like we were understaffed. just too many kids for just 2 people...either that or im just not used to having that much children at once. i guess i got spoiled when i only did afternoon shifts the past year. anyway, it was just busy. i never felt so relieved leaving work like today. i got lunch afterwards and took a good nap.
monday afternoon felt like it was going to be a good day for the night. it had the makings of a decently slow monday night shift, like it has been for the past month or so. then i get a call from one of the front desk staff saying she couldnt come in at all today cause her daughter was admitted to the ER for her sickness. i felt bad, but it left me understaffed for the whole night. the front desk person who was there since 11am now had to stay until close because of that. unfortunately for the both of us...it had to be a really busy day. i rarely left the front desk, only when it was a little dead i could leave and walk around the club. and even if i did walk around, it would only be for a short while. it wasnt until around 8-ish that it started to die down and get slow. luckily, i had someone get me dinner to keep me going. towards the end of the shift, i let the front desk person leave early since he was here literally all day. i didnt want to keep him here any longer. on a normal monday, i would get out at 10.15 at the fastest. today...10.50. gah. it just was not my day.
