EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG

A full 59% of Americans polled say they believe in the apocalyptic events predicted in the Bible's Book of Revelations: when the Messiah returns on Judgment Day, believers will be lifted to glorious Heaven while sinful non-believers will be "left behind" to do battle with the Antichrist.

~Just a little tidbit I had to borrow from the disinformation page (disinfo.com) after reading Ben's lj comment. I have a similar problem with my parents and even many of my friends when it comes to my beliefs vs. theirs...I thought the above comment was helpful to me in realizing why they believe the way they do. My mom passes me off as a conspiracy theorist who is a bit on the mentally ill side of things because that is her reality...being an RN on a mental health unit, a conservative, and a christian to the fullest extent of each word. To her, I am a dreamer. I, on the other hand, claim no religion, live amongst artists and poets, and think she is a little on the brainwashed side as is a vast majority of mainstream America. I enjoy the fact that we can share our philosophies at times, I just get offended when the emotional things are thrown into the mix. So, I guess I just had to share that since it came up...
