1) We went to Sandusky to meet up with DoDo from Isca. She took a few pictures but I took none... had a great visit. Plan to meet up again in Early Sept.
2) went down to Northern Kentucky to Ice Princess's (for isca people) and then we went to the newport aquarium on Monday... B in the middle, the others are two of her 4...
3) Benjamin and I traveled to my inlaws house in Rockville, Indiana to our friend Lyn's son and fathers funerals.
http://www.legacy.com/tribstar/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=109395008 Thats the obit. I cant find the pics from the accident any more online, which is fine...
Im going to copy and paste what I wrote in my moms group recently abuot the events of the funeral....
two and a half hours later, we got to the coffins...*heart breaks* B
was an ANGEL. He kept saying "momma, I know why we are here..there
was a horrible accient and Evan and Phil died but its ok, only their
bodies are here, their hearts are in heaven, in Gods hands". Im
tearing up just reading that...and let me tell you people around us
wer eSOBBING...
THEN my son, who again is THREE, asks me why there is a box with
envelopes in it. I said that peope were putting money in them, with
the names of Lyns daddy and son on them, so that the money could be
used to honor them at places that they cared about...and I explained
how Evan was in kindergarden and the money would go to his school so
that other little boys and girls know he went there, just things like
that...
let me insert here that B is OBESSED with change right now, and
saving... so it isnt weird for him to ask, if he has been good, for
money. What he asks for is change... well at this point we were, oh
about 20 feet from those boxes and he asked for change, I thought
nothing of it as he started to stuff the quarter and nickel into his
pants pockets... then there was this pause, you could alsmot see the
wheels turning..and he says "Ill be right back". I almost hollared
out for him but I coul see where he was going...to the box. HE came
back with this large, warm smile and said "momma, I gave my change to
Evans school". UGH. Pass the tissues please...
We got so many compliemnts on B's behavior..and I tell you what,
2.5hrs is a heckofa long time for an adult to stand and wait..but Lyn
was so pleased to see B... She OFFERED HIM A FLOWER because he
complimted them and said "so many beautiful flowers, like the
beautiful sky outside and this beautiful day"... and he was
sincere...anyway she toold him she would like him to have one, he
could pick any..and he said "may I please have a red carnation" and
she said yes..and then Evans daddy started crying because those were
evans favorites and his favorite color too... B said "well I like red
as my back up favorite, orange is my number one favorite" and made everyone
smile...
I know Im bias but he never ceases to amaze me. Lyn wrapped her arms
around me and said how thankful she was we brought him *I kmow lots
of people have strong opinions on children at funerals and I have
mine too*
On our walk back home we talked about the whole expereince and he
said "momma, you know this flower is so special to me... I wish it
could live forever"... and then he talked about people and animals
that have been in our life, and hes lived that are in heaven..and how
he isnt afraid to be dead *his words* because God is there and Aunt
Mandy and Aunt Amy and the list went on and on...
3.5 yrs old... and wise beyond his years...
THEN...the next day we played outside, in the rain. My child is such an outdoor kid, there is no keeping him inside and frankly, I dont have the heart or desire to so it doesnt matter...
He grabbed a umbrella out of the van and started playing, I grabbed a few shots...
here is another...
4) When we got home D was remodeling. Actually he had started before we left for N. Kentucky but my house is a mess... it isnt a big house to start with. A traditional 3 bedroom ranch style home and I have bedroom and office type stuff everywhere... its driving me nuts.
We have carpet and new family room furniture suppose to be arriving before the end of the month as well... Im sure it will look awesome when done but Im going nutso... we have the new floors for that room, hes already painted the walls and ceiling... the floor is going to be hardwood so he ripped up all the carpeting and padding...and put that down, its beautiful but so different. He bought a area type rug for that room as well... which is propped in the living room.... you get the idea...oh he put new lighting in there, moved B's baseball ceiling fan/light to his new room, though his room hasnt even been started.... its going to be...wait a minute, can you guess what color *chuckles* ORANGE! He is so excited... its so damn cute. I think we are making one small wall a chalkboard for him. he loves to draw. They have paint you can put on the wall so they can do that, then Im also going to put/make a 11xwhatever size frame that has cork board in it for him to put up his art...
5) The weekend before all these events, my friend Kim won tickets to The Police Concert in Columbus. We drove up early, got a hotelroom right on Nationwide BLVD. went walking, I bought some jewelry at the North Market... anyway it was a good time...
I snapped a pic of me before the concert...
um, what else...
5) I went to a Vera Bradley sale in Fort Wayne with my friends Gina and Mandy at the beg. of the month. Im in love with the Mesa Red line..but I Was good, only got a back pack and a wristlet. I did get my MIL a bag in Windsor something or other and a wallet and then my SIL a microfleece brown backpack for Xmas... That was a crazy day but fun...
6) more remodeling. We FINALLY got our estimates to redo our pack porch, remove some 20+ foot arbs from the back and make a sunroom... 12K, I though this was outstanding, so we are are talking about it.... Also, we want a new bay window in front and porch/walkway out there... we got an estimate for that, and its only 1,200... shocking but my friends husband does concrete work so that helps a TON obviously.... he is even cutting us a deal in moving all of the front flower bed that will be affected...
7) on a search for a nice wooden swing set for B...
8) Im going out to eat with my Zia and then to see Funny Girl at The Dayton Playhouse on Saturday evening. I can hardly wait. I think we are going to go out for authentic Italian *the only way to go when your Zia is from Naples, Italy*... I can hardly wait.
9) we have baseball game in the afternoon on Saturday and Im excited about that as well...
10) Im totally bummed.. B's graduation from preschool is next week... HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!? its on our 9th wedding anniversary... this whole grown up thing... its hard on me. I think its because hes our only one...
Whats new in your worlds?
OH WAIT, in OTHER GOOD NEWS, D started his job monday downtown... THANK GOD! We were spending over 500 a month in gas for him to drive down to Cincinnati each day and back... he is also going back for his masters in fall. Im so excited for him!!! he wants to teach. he will make an amazing teacher...
