Is ST not one of the finest things ever committed to celluloid?

Yes, yes, oh, yes!

I just finished watching From Hell again and, although it's not a bad film, it does feel like practise for Sweeney - I think he even flicked out a razor (or a thin anatomy blade) at one point, which made me gasp a little.

Depp in ST reminds me a little of James Spader in Secretary, not that the films, characters, performances, or even actors really have anything in common - it's more just that someone once said to me that James Spader got old for only one reason: so that he could do that role. And I feel like it's rather similar with Johnny - I don't know how many more gentleman gothic anguish roles he's going to take, but I suspect this is going to be the apex of his career for me.

I do kind of understand your reluctance about attending musicals (says she who loves Phantom of the Opera...*cough*) but, really man, the Times described it as "The best serial killer musical ever!" How could you possibly pass that up and ever have the courage to look Val McDermid in the eye again, hmm?

p.s. sorry about the silence on the email front, I am currently in the middle of writing you a missive, now with even more movie ranting!
