Oh, I had such a great weekend!
Saturday I walked around the city all afternoon with Anjali to help her look at apartments, and she found one only a few blocks away from where my new place is going to be. While we were out, I came across a yard sale / BBQ and found a GORGEOUS glass-top dining room table (with 4 chairs) for only $80! The dude delivered it to my current apartment that night, and it's now setup in my kitchen and it looks fabulous. We had dinner that night at Aux Vivres, and then I went out with Carla to watch the hockey game (she's from Calgary, so now I have to pay attention to the Flames games as well as the Montreal games ... since when do I care about sports?).
Also on Saturday I learned that my cousin Natalie had her baby!!! She sent pictures and a couple of longish emails, and I wanted to cry it was all so beautiful. I also talked to my other cousin Becky on the phone on Saturday, and she sounded good (she's getting married in June!). It's amazing to hear someone's voice who's so far away; there are so many people I care about who I never see. Talking on the phone is totally underrated!
On top of all that, my sister came back from New Orleans this weekend, and I got to talk to her a lot more than usual now that she's back online. And she's coming to visit sometime this month! Seriously, I haven't seen her since Christmas, and that's just wrong.
Oh right, so on Sunday Carla and I drove around downtown to pick up this fan in NDG, so we were in the car for probably over an hour just getting through the downtown traffic. Windows open, sun beating down on my pale pale skin, blasting cheesy radio, waving at hot dudes. Twas a great summery day, there were hundreds of people out filling the streets and the parks.
We went to Pistol last night to watch the Canadiens game, and it was so much fun. They had the whole front of the bar open to the outside, and before the game started this dude came by with a chinchilla! And we played with it for a while and took pictures (I'll put those up tonight). I saw a crapload of people I knew walk by, and it was so sunny and warm I just hung outside the bar with a soda until the game started. At the end of the third period, a big group of people gathered on the street to watch from outside, and even though we lost, it was still lots of fun.
OH and then to top off my weekend, my friend Phil in New York tried to be sneaky about asking what I was up to this weekend, but I quickly figured out that he was planning to surprise me by visiting. I am so happy.
