Commute

When I ride my bike to work, there is a point at which I have to fit through a very narrow opening in the fence just behind the McConnell Arena. It also happens to be located about halfway up a very steep hill. The opening is about five inches wider than the width of my handlebars, but when I'm moving real fast trying to scale the hill, it's much harder to center myself. Sometimes I make it. Most of the time one of my handlebars or the other will crash into the fence, making a loud clattering and throwing me off balance. I have to dismount and wave to the onlookers to let them know I'm okay. "Heh, sometimes it fits, and sometimes it doesn't!"

The best days are when the fence has been left completely open and I can sail through the opening, which is now ten meters wide.
