well, in the words of one of my roommates....IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! actually, despite the afternoon spent in the dmv, it's been good. those dmv folk, man, are they disgruntled. one guy would finish with one person, then look at the clock, stand up, walk around, look at the clock again, then sit down, look at the clock, sigh, and hit the button for the next person to come. he disappeared into the bathroom for a while. i guess i wouldn't like that job either.

so i did have a party on saturday night. the first party i really decide to throw on my own, and what happens? that's right, it's chock full of pretty awkward moments. whatever. i think i did see it coming. i'm a pretty awkward person.

so check this out: one of our upstairs neighbors (who thought we hated him) dropped by the party pretty drunk, got really disappointed in my roommates for not giving me a cake, found out i was vegan and made a vow to find a recipe and make me a cake for today. i figured it was the booze talking, but, sure enough, i get home late last night to steve telling me there's a cake from him on the counter. along with candles. and sprinkles, to decorate it. abso-fucking-lutely adorable. i haven't tried it yet. i would have, but my teeth still ache from how sweet the situation was.

i think mom and dad just realized that i'm a grown up. they're spoiling the shit out of me. dad paid off my credit card today (which means mom did it in dad's name...she doesn't trust dad with their finances, and he couldn't be happier) granted, it was only 200 dollars, but still. dad asked me not to take offence to it, they wanted to do it because they were proud of me. i feel guilty. but, whatever....i'll use aj's logic: it's my birthday! (no offence, aj)
