because Caitlin needs it: AB POST THE THIRD.

Apr 21, 2009 16:26

Okay, so. Last "businessy" post about Anime Boston, since Caitlin asked me for it. These are just the details, final costs, what you'll need to bring with you, and all that jazz.

First things first, hotel.
We're staying at the Hilton Doubletree hotel on Washington St. in Boston. It's like...a mile or so away from the Prudential Center and if you don't feel like walking, you can just...take the T. I would prefer to walk because I'm terrified of the T, but that's okay.
HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THE HOTEL, GUYS.
»First off, we have ten people going, so that's five people per room. We've booked the rooms as two people/room. I cannot stress enough to you all how extremely careful you all need to be so that we can get away with that. That means:
→You'll need to keep the noise level down, especially during the evening.
→SUITCASE SHARING. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, GUYS. We're aiming for 2-3 suitcase per room. It's really not that hard to do, as we've personally done it before despite having to bring multiple cosplays with us. If you have a cosplay for each day planned, wear one to the con on Friday to save space. This goes for Sunday as well. Amber and I both have very large bags to put things in, so if you need help with that, don't be afraid to contact one of us and we'll fit you in.
→If you need to go to the room, go solo or in pairs. Going in groups could possibly be troublesome since this isn't one of the main hotels, unfortunately.
→I don't think I need to say this, but no alcohol or drugs in the rooms lololol. While I'm at it, be respectful of your roommates too. Since we're all relatively familiar with each other (for the most part), I don't really see this being a problem. :)

»Hotel check-in is at 3pm. I know that may become a huge pain in the ass for some of you, but here's the deal. I personally have exams for both of my classes that day (THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL TIMING, GCC. |:) that my professors won't let me take early, so Amber, Ally and I will be arriving after my exams are finished. While I'm not sure if they hotel lobby person will hook us up with early check-in, I guess it's worth a shot. That being said, if you'd rather leave your luggage with me, I'll bring the bags with me later on for check-in instead of people having to carry 2-3 bags worth of shit around the convention. Just contact me if you're into that idea.

As far as final costs and everything go, hotel came to $74.42/person. You need to give the money to Caitlin by May 1st, 2009 at the absolute latest. The bill came in and my mom is pestering me for it, but I have absolutely no way to contact anyone since I don't KNOW any of you.
Since we're not driving down ourselves, there's no need to worry about tolls/gas/parking costs. Yay!
Any other expenses are your own to deal with, and by that I obviously mean however much you want to spend in the Dealer's Room/Artist's Alley and food at the con itself. We'll probably take a trip to the grocery store at least one time to get some snacks and stuff for the rooms as well.

To wrap things up, here is a list of things you should (think about) bringing along with you.
•The most important thing: YOUR COSPLAYS. If you're not cosplaying, bring clothing. You can't run around nakers, as much as that may suck, since you'll more than likely get arrested. ):
•Cellphones, if you have them. If we all need to get into contact with one another at the con, this will be the most effective means of doing so since we won't all be together as a whole group the entire time.
•Your medical/insurance cards or whatever. Unfortunately, accidents happen sometimes and it's better to be safe than sorry. Even if we have an EMT in our group.
•Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toothpaste will be provided by us. You will need to bring your own toothbrushes. Buzzkill, I know. ): Maybe a brush here and there would also be good to have on you. Those little foldable travel brushes are absolutely wonderful.
•Bring some money with you. The amount is entirely up to you, but please remember to keep the cost of meals, what you want to purchase, and that sort of thing in mind. Even better yet, bring your ATM card with you.

I can't really think of anything else that I need to say right now. I'm sure things will come to me here and there, though. If you have questions, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE don't hesitate to ask here.
You don't need to have a Livejournal account to post a comment on this entry, so if you have any comments or concerns at all, please leave it here! (Just make sure you leave your name so that I know who you are, yeah?) It's so much easier than having Caitlin relay the message to me. I really don't bite, so don't be afraid of me. ♥♥♥

IT'S A MONTH AND A DAY AWAY GUYS. HECK YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. LET'S ROCK IT.
