Another NYCC entry

I went to New York Comic Con. As usual, I was dressed as the Monster in the Darkness from Order of the Stick. To those unfamiliar with that character, I was the one with the Hello Kitty umbrella and the black fabric hanging from it. I am still enjoying the reactions to it. One person decided to play the "Who can hit the lightest" game with me. MitD always loses that game. XD

There were plenty of interesting costumes. I liked the Zombie Redshirt. I saw a bunch of my friends, including someone I haven't seen in 13 years.

Thursday - Not much happened. I stuck with some people I knew from college and browsed the Dealer's Room.

Friday - I went to the Felicia Day Spotlight Panel. Sandeep Parikh was also there. The awesome Bumblebee cosplayer distracted them. There was amusing banter, and people commenting on how attractive Felicia is. They did confirm that Sandeep helped write the Zaboo comic.

There was no Yoshiki panel.

I went to the Neverwinter panel. R.A. Salvatore mentioned that Drizz't was created randomly right before a meeting as Wulfgar's sidekick. Then Drizz't took over as a character when R.A. Salvatore was writing the book. the author also mentioned that he identified most with Artemis Entreri.

I watched Unicorn City. It's a movie about gamers attempting to form their own Utopia. It was pretty disappointing. It seemed more like it relied on gamer stereotypes than game knowledge.

I watched Madoka. I should watch the rest of the series.

I ended the evening with attending the Demonic Hotspots, Infernal Pit Stops and The Badlands...panel. It featured urban fantasy authors like Patricia Briggs. They mentioned some of their personal experiences of living in various locations and how it influenced their writing. NYC is the perfect place for an inter-dimensional vortex.

Saturday- I played Dungeons and Dragons. I had the drow ranger. It ended in a TPK. The party mostly suffocated to death while trapped in a cave. The fey fire used up all the oxygen. I think we all expected a TPK when the cleric was the first to die. He was engulfed by a tree. The rogue attempted a joke-off with the fey, before we realized when they were just trolling the party. He rolled low on his diplomacy checks so he made up some jokes to match.

"Two orcs walked into a bar. They had drinks. That's the joke."

I missed the Dragon Age panel after waiting on line for over an hour. I spent many hours waiting on line for the Masqeurade. I played Monty Python Fluxx with some random people in line with me. It started over an hour late/

A film directed by a 21 year old was shown first. It was about some boy who can fight aliens. It was full of what tvtropes would call NARM. TWO GUYS KISSED AND THEN A RAINBOW APPEARED.

The Masquerade itself was great. Most of the skits were entertaining. BUMBLEBEE TRANSFORMED INTO A CAR AND GLOWED IN THE DARK! Link destroyed stuff with Angry Birds. Most of the dancing skits had actual choreography.

Sunday- I went to the Tiger & Bunny panel. The producer made an attempt at the Kitty Beard. They showed some interesting things about how the anime was created. Ages and the relationship between Kotetsu and Barnaby are up to the fans. There are branches of Rock Bison's sponsor in NYC. There were cards handed out for any questions we wanted to ask, and a few were randomly chosen. My question wasn't one of the chosen ones. I chose the most ridiculous question ever.

"Keith's dog has the same name as the actor John Goodman. Was this intentional?"

The panel ended with a "Thanks and thanks again".

I went to the Jim Henson Company panel. His early works were very surreal and rhythmic. A Tale of Sand looks like it'll be pretty cool. The graphic novel is going to have random parts of the script in it.

^_^
