Remember you're a Womble

Did some world-class wombling last night. Well, ok, I found the thing on freecycle, but still - a whole sofa! For free! I think that was pretty cool. We went to have a look at it last night, and decided it was light enough that we could carry it home...

Well, that was a good idea from the point of view of not having to pay anyone to bring it back for us, but it did take us an hour to retrace our steps along a walk that took 15 minutes on the way out. The main difficulty was that it was very hard to grip, especially for me with my weak girl-hands. Lucid managed much better. I had to keep stopping for breaks, and just as we arrived at out building, it slipped out of my hands and ripped some skin off my right hand... which was fun... both my hands and arms were throbbing from the elbow down by the time we had the thing installed, and we were very glad to be able to flop down on it at that stage. In fact my hands are still very stiff and sore today, and I'm having rather a bit of trouble typing. I've never abused the poor things like that before in my life.

Lucid is very enthused by the whole getting-stuff-for-free concept. It really is amazing the things Londoners just throw out, and when you take freecycle into consideration as well, we could probably finish furnishing our apartment without spending any money at all.

free stuff, household stuff, whining
