Back to life...?

Hey all.  So, it's been a VERY long time since my last post here on LiveJournal.  It's not that I don't like LiveJournal, since the blog is very easy and intuitive to use.  It's more that I guess I'm just not that into blogging.  All the requirements of being a good blogger; the anecdotes, the inspiration, the unequivocal need to share; have been lacking in recent years, so I haven't been much of the blogger.

Nevertheless, that doesn't mean I haven't blogged at all.  I did end up starting a Blogger blog (on BlogSpot) which, for a short while, effectively replaced LiveJournal as my primary blog, but it wasn't the same.  You see, Blogger has a nice blogging utility and display customization structure, but it doesn't offer the same kind of environment and features as LiveJournal, such as hiding posts and differentiating between posts you share with your friends and the masses.  It's great for writing about your adventures and travels which you'd want everybody to see, but not so much about holding onto and following a select community, like LiveJournal.

Recently, a couple of my LJ community buddies have begun posting on this site.  (Let's face it, for the past couple of years or so, and in the words of one of those buddies, LJ has been a relative "ghost town".)  I have, in fact, been following their posts religiously, but only because I have my Reader account set up to pull LiveJournal feeds.  Then I began thinking.  Why don't I add LiveJournal to the list of sites I regularly visit?  Sure, Facebook and Twitter have pretty much pulled away the LiveJournal buzz, but I'm sure that people still want to share more depth about their lives than straight up factual information and tiny sound bites.

So, I guess in a fit of nostalgia, I decided to visit my LiveJournal page one more time to see if anything's changed, and boy was I surprised to find many of my Tweets embedded on the homepage!  (I must have come here at some point and signed in to Twitter from LiveJournal; I don't know.)  Nevertheless, it got me thinking.  If LiveJournal's been updating without me, which it clearly has, why don't I come back and start posting real entries again?  Sure, as I said before, I'm not really the blogging type these days-I guess the deep loneliness I felt in college sucked most of my social drives away-but the concept of posting to LJ just seems more fun, and it feels like more people are going to discover what I post as they too have their fit of nostalgia.

Another reason I can think of to start posting here again is to commemorate a new part of life:  I'm starting school again, and I think LJ is the perfect venue to "express" my experiences on the topic, although, as I specified earlier, talking about my experiences is a bit troublesome for me.

So, here we go again, I guess.  LiveJournal is back in business!  Let's see how long this lasts!

(Also, to keep me here, you may begin to see further customizations on this site.  There are a bunch of customizations that I designed Freshman year, such as the UserPic, etc., which I never uploaded, along with my website, so maybe my presence here will be more cemented than it currently is.)
