I Can Hear the Summer End

Aug 13, 2008 19:11

Yesterday was my last day with Madz for 2008. It was a good day. This second half of the summer has just...worked. It's taken us a couple years to really click, and maybe it was because I was holding back. I played, but wasn't really playing before. I was too safe. I was too proper and withheld. But I wasn't so much this summer, and I think we had a heck of a lot more fun because of it. Hell, I even let her and Em convince me to sing some karaoke for them!

And I'll miss Em until I see her again, too. If she and Madz are still friends. I have my doubts about that right now, since Madz is going into 6th, and Em into 4th. Two whole grades separation can make a big difference at this age, especially because Madz's new school is a middle school with grade 6 included with 7 and 8. (Am I the only one who went to a 7/8 only middle school? 6/7/8 seems weird to me...)

Anyway, I've been requested again for next summer, which I fully intend to do at this point. I mean, plans can change in a year, and they might decide they don't need me back, and I might decide to spend the summer elsewhere, who knows?

But for now I'll consider it a certain event because it's too sad right now to call this the end.
