Awesome Things That Happened Today (Because I need an upbeat entry, and I am feeling considerably more upbeat today than I did earlier this week):
--Found out my co-worker likes / has liked anime, too, and is a big LotR fan. Huzzah for kindred spirits!
--Had a nice walk with Dad and Padfoot (and Dad did not smoke a cigar this time as he did yesterday).
--Morgan picked up his phone...twice! (Or thrice, I guess, because I only intentionally called him twice, but apparently I accidentally called him once, and he picked up that time, even though I wasn't even aware I was calling him.)
--Went down to Hollywood Video to rent Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and since I was down there anyway, and since my co-worker and I were talking about Berserk (or since I brought it up anyway), I decided to pop into BestBuy and purchase the complete Berserk series for $29.99 that I heard about through an hbi2k video a few months ago. (hbi2k created the awesomely hysterical Berserk Abridged series available for viewing pleasure on the youtube, so go watch it--yes, Travis, I'm looking very pointedly at you. Veeerrry pointedly. Specifically as well. Pointedly and specifically. Yes, anyway...)
--And now...the most awesome part of my day...the magnitude might not strike any of you as it does me...well, Keri will definitely get it, but...
Conner said my name.
At least, I'm really pretty darn sure he said my name. I hope he said my name.
Dad mentioned I should go down to the Center and see him, but I didn't really want to because I was tired after another long day at work. But then he said that today was Conner's last day of school until the fall, and Conner loves school, so today is not a fun day for him as it is for the majority of his classmates. So I went down to see him, and I walk into his room, and as I grab the chair next to the door and scootch it over to sit next to him, I swear to God he said,"--arah." He's not too good at 's' sounds, so he kind of said "Darah," but dang it, I'm pretty certain he said my name. I just stopped and asked him, "Did you just say my name?" And he was kind of grinning, either happy to see me, or happy to see me AND thinking it was funny to say my name once and then not say it again. I'm pretty sure it's the combo. So I hugged him and kissed him and said 'hi' and all that, just trying to brush it off, thinking he didn't really say my name, he's never said it before to my face, and really, my name's kind of hard for him to say, so...surely he didn't.
But I had to ask him again.
"Conner, did you really say my name? Really? Did you?"
Okay, so I asked multiple times.
And he just kept on grinning, and I poked him in the side, asking him, "Did you? Did you? Did you?"
And he just laughed and laughed and wouldn't say anything else about it.
So that's really what makes my day right there. My co-worker is cool, and my dad and I had a nice walk, and Morgan picked up the phone, and I bought all of Berserk for cheap (and for legal). But all my co-workers are cool people, and my dad and I often go for nice walks, and Morgan picks up the phone frequently enough, and I don't really need to watch Berserk again anytime soon because I've seen it 4-5 times in its entirety within this past year (and I'm not counting hbi2k's Abridged series in that either)...
But Conner doesn't say my name everyday.
As far as I know, Conner has never said my name.
So that's the thing that really counts. It really counts more than I can say.
And damn that little turd, but he's probably going to make me wait another 16 years before he says it again.
