i had the best time this weekend.
me, kathy and laurie went to this SCA event in akron and had a blast. we started out and 9am and go to the site at 11am. we looked around a bit and located the bathrooms before they started the classes.
from 12-1 they had tribal partnering and also drumming. laurie drifted off to the tribal partnering class while me and kathy shopped a bit and had some turkish coffee with this nice man. i have had turkish coffee before but this was strange. it made me and kathy feel wierd and wired all day.
1-2 they had dark tribal and 16th century persian costuming. i wanted to take both but i can not be in 2 places at once. so me and kathy went to the dark tribal. jezebel was teaching us a 2 minute routine and boy did she go fast but it was cool. i remember some of it and intend to find the music she used.
2-3 they had goblet dancing and easy tribal belts. kathy an di were not real interested in these so while laurie stayed and played kahty and i went to go find a hotel room. we were stilling feeling odd from the coffee and it made for a fun interesting time. we decided on comfort inn because they had a free continiental breakfast that has waffles and eggs that tasted like crap and yogurt and all kinds of stuff and we got a damn good price on a very nice room. i was impressed.
so we went back and shopped a bit again. i got a coin bra for 15 bucks, a velvet skirt and small hip scarf for 10 and i got 2 cute short peasent shirts for 10. i also got some bells that were 2 bucks.
3-4 they had personnal expression and smokey eyes. i express myself really well, lol, so i passed on the expression class and me and kathy went and learned how to attempt to do smokey eyes. kathy has way better make up application than i do. by the time the class was over i looked like a middle eastern hooker on crack. i was a mess. but i have stuff to help me practice. hahaha.
4-5 was floorwork and middle eastern music of all kinds. kathy hopped over and checked out the floorwork. she was not too impressed about what was taught and she didnt really come away from it with any more knowledge than she had already learned from chandara. i wondered and talk to Gar. God love the Gar. he is the biggest flirt. we had some nice goodies to share with us and we thanked him with tons of hugs for his gifts. he was smitten with kathy and they helped with giving of more gifts. hahahaha
we had some amazing food. none was real frightening for me. they have flat bread and pita bread, hummus that was to die for, goat cheese, raisin and almond? couscous, grape leaves stuffed with somehting, chicken thighs that had cooked all day and fell off the bone, some sort of chick pea salad that is heaven. they had grapes to freshen your pallet and yummy desearts. i adore turkish delight and dates in powdered sugar.
after we ate ourselves stupid, we enjoyed an amazing show of dance. all types and several first time performers and some old timers. it was a good show.
after that ishtar played and rocked the house. lots and lots of dancing. i got several pics and rocked out as well. i had to pass on the dancing due to my bones hurting really bad.
we traveled back to the hotel around 10. got in our pj's, checked in with our other halves that we left at home and proceded to get our drink on. laurie had a glass.
me and kathy had 2 BOTTLES!!!!!
we giggled the whole night. at one point kathy was on her knees with her head on the bed laughing for 45 minutes straight. i have no idea what we giggled about and it doesnt matter. all that matters is that we obviously had a GREAT time!!!
