Anti-Rational Cry-babies

"No revolution was ever spearheaded by wriggling, chanting drug addicts who are boastfully anti-rational, who have no program to offer, yet propose to take over a nation of 200 million, and who spend their time manufacturing grievances..." - Ayn Rand

This quote is a carry over from my last blog. I thought I'd post it here as it is relevant to my background. Though Ayn Rand and the rest of the "rationalism alone will save us crowd" have valid grievances with contemporary liberalism their denial of the non-rational is the denial of what makes humans whole. Emotion, subjective memory, and a limited point of view are parts, together with reason, of what it means to be human. Only searching for "truth" through your rational faculties is to miss out on the beauty, awe, pain, and dirtiness of the human experience. This will undoubtedly prickel the skins of my epistemologically oriented readers. So be it. Take what I've said as a critique and not the whole of my thoughts on knowledge.

"Everything in moderation, including moderation." - Mark Twain

anti-rationalism, rationalism, epistemology, human experience
