So, the temperature has finally dropped to a more riding friendly level. I purchased a headlight for my handlebars and a rear light for my seat post this past weekend. Riding from work at night was wrecking my nerves. It had become a mad sprint from Daisy Hill to my apartment. Now, I'm more comfortable and confident on the ride and am not racing at break-neck speeds to get home.
Ash and I have been hitting a number of concerts recently. We will be seeing a play version of '
Night of the Living Dead' at the
Coterie this weekend. It should be a great show. Wednesday the 7th, Ryan and I will be seeing
The Evens. It too promises to be an awesome
show. On Oct. 13th Ash and I, along with Megan and Ryan, saw
Andrew Bird and
Wilco at the
Crossroads KC. It is easily in the top 3 shows I've ever seen. Wilco was phenomenal and Andrew Bird did his thing and wowed the audience. On Oct. 20th we saw
Rogue Wave at the Bottleneck and had a great time. The opening band, Port O'Brien, left a lot to be desired. Their sound was nothing like their proper studio albums. Any subtlety or nuance was out the window. Rogue Wave did an outstanding job. The next show we'll be seeing together will be
The New Pornographers, one of the first bands I turned Ashley onto, at Liberty Hall. Beyond that there are always more bands coming through town. I haven't seen
Richard Buckner in a long time and would love it if he made it through here in the next few months. But, that is neither here, nor there. . .
Thanksgiving is coming up and that means lots of
yummy vegan foods! I'll probably spend the day with my family at the
cabin. It is such a tranquil place and having family gatherings there has enriched the experiences of coming together. We are very lucky to have such a retreat.
Well, I hope all of you and yours are well and enjoying the transition into fall.
Cheers!
