So I was in Hot Topic today and I was walking around and I ran into one of my friends. She was there with one of her friends and her friend was wearing a "Boston straight-edge hoodie." I swear every other word that came out of her mouth was some cuss word. Then I casually asked her about her plugs and when I told them I had no piercings, my friend was surprised and said "not even your ears?" but the other girl said "oh I thought you'd have plugs." It shows how much of a trend the scene has become. People automatically assume that everyone into straight-edge/hardcore has to look a certain way. She didn't say it in a mean way, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how stupid this whole scene has gotten. Everyone has to dress a certain way, dye their hair funky colors, and wear tight pants. In fact I heard the girl get recognized in the store because I heard a boy say "hey! I knew it was you because of your tight pants!" Wow. Another example is that yesterday I was in Barnes & Noble and I was dressed in American Eagle/Aeropostale clothes, and I commented a guy on his Avenged Sevenfold hoodie. He and his friends looked at me and asked "Do you like Fall Out Boy?" I smiled and said "yes, I listen to lots of different music." Him and his friends just started laughing and I walked off. It's horrible how people get judged by the clothes they wear. I mean sometimes it's obvious that someone likes a certain band when they're wearing a band shirt, but it's just so stupid that everything has become a look. I don't make judgments on people by the way they dress. I make judgments based on how people act and handle different situations they are faced with, it's called actually getting to know the person. I miss the days back when everyone described the music scene as "one big family" and people not caring about what people looked like. I like how I don't follow trends. :)
