Yesterday Thursday August 4, 2005, I went to see Allister with Plain White T's and Down To Earth Approach at iMusicast in Oakland. Me and Shannon hung around Berkeley for the day before heading to iMusicast, which was impossible to find. I ate at an awesome fast-food restaurant called A++. They had chicken and hamburgers, but they also had veggie burgers, hummus, tofu sandwiches, soups, salads, and french fries. I had a tofu sandwich with garlic fries. (Yeah I know, I'm talking about food again.)The fries weren't just garlic flavored, they had actual garlic cloves in them. So after eating we walked around Berkeley. They had a lot of cool record stores and clothing places and they sold a lot of anti-Bush shirts. We ran into our friend John in a bookstore and he told us how to get to iMusicast. It was impossible to find because it doesn't looke like a venue on the outside. We got to the venue around 3:00, and the doors didn't open till past 6:00. It was cool to see the bands unload in front of us before the show. It wasn't fair that the kids that got tickets before us got to go in first. We would've had tickets if the website wasn't down. We still ended up second row though, which could've been worse. The first band to go on was 580 West. They weren't bad considering the lead singer had a bad cold and could barely talk. The second band was Down To Earth Approach. They weren't bad either. The third band was a surprise to me. It was Gatsby's American Dream! I'd heard a lot about the band and two boys behind me and Shannon were going nuts over them. They were cool guys though. One guy was dancing and elbowed me in the head, but I didn't mind too much. He even grabbed me and Shannon and started dancing with us. That was fun :). I liked GAB. They were fun and catchy and danceable. Next up was Plain White T's, but before they went on, two of the members of the Matches popped onstage for a surprise new song played on acoustic/electric guitar. It was awesome. Then the T's came on and the crowd went nuts for them. It was nice that there was no crowd surfing, but everyone crowded in for the T's. I'd only heard one song which was "Take Me Away" so I knew the chorus. They were really good and energetic. They also played a beautiful song called "Hey There Delilah" and I somehow knew the words. It sounded really familiar. Last up were Allister. A lot of people ended up leaving after the T's but it was cool since we had space around us. Allister were a blast and I knew about 4 songs and it was awesome. Afterwards me and Shannon both ended up with setlists and we even got them signed by the band. It was funny because when we met one of the frontmen, Scotty, he asked Shannon for her favorite animal, and she didn't know what to say so she told him "cat" and he drew a little cat next to his name. I got a penguin ^_^. The rest of the guys from the band were rad too, but I didn't get many words from them. I did get to meet Tim from Plain White T's who was very nice and we had a very good conversation with him about touring and his band, and he even told me that they'd stayed at a hotel once in Dublin. We left iMusicast at about 11:30 and went to get Taco Bell. I got home at 12:30. Another awesome day. :)
