Two quick questions: how traditional are you, and is it going to be a dance-dance (waltz, etc), or just a quiet moment for you two?

we are not super traditional. we would rather go with a more "classic" song rather than a currect popular top 40-esque song.

hm... i'm not quite sure what you mean. we will be dancing in front of everyone... so i dont think it will be a quite moment for the 2 of us (although that does sound nice). but i'm not much of a dancer (he's a lot better than me) so we're looking for something relatively simple.
i'm hoping to avoid what i call "the 8th grade slow dance" where we sort of sway and try not to make too much eye contact or physical contact.

There's always "Unchained Melody", which likely would have been what I chose, had L&I danced...it's a great 8th grade slowdance song. :) (or 'My Prayer' by the Platters, or the like)

Hrm. Not really.

I'm a big fan of old doowop music and the like...I don't really have a romantic streak (I love Billie Holliday, for example, but only the sad stuff).

As long as you don't use "True Companion" by Marc Cohn. Most. Overused. Wedding Song. Ever.
