my best friend before amanda prettyman was kristen cummings. i can't pinpoint/remember exactly when or how we became best friends like i can with amanda, but it was sometime around 4th grade. we were really good friends until 7th grade. that year she kind of adopted a new identity. part of that was becoming a vegetarian, which is part of the reason i gave up red meat. a small part, but still... she also became some odd combination of an extreme punk and a goth. we didn't mesh very well after that. we both got new best friends. i haven't seen her since high school graduation.
her older brother ryan almost sold me a green day cd once. he was a good friend of caree's older sister, so i've seen him a few times in the past two or three years.
last week he was killed in a car bombing in iraq. his funeral is today.
i kind of feel like i should have gone.
i never thought i would know the name of someone killed in iraq much less have watched "the grudge" with him/her. geez.
