This week, I have 3 interviews for internships. 2 interviews down, 1 to go.
First interview was with a wholesaling company in Carrollton called St. Maarten. It's unpaid, which is such a bummer, but I'm seriously still considering it. The first thing I saw when I walked into the warehouse was this big ol' friendly black lab! UMM PERFECT NEED I SAY MORE?! Once I got started talking to the lady she talked about all the European lines they have and how I'd get to get a really good hands on experience for wholesaling, I'd even get to go help out at the Dallas market! Only problem is 1. it IS unpaid (but I could probably still continue working part-time) and 2. they can't hire the interns afterwards, their company is too small. Everyone there is super nice, and Morgan, the foreign lady I interviewed with talked about how fun it is to work there and it's really laid back and they drink and have fun together, but when it is time to work, they work hard. That sounds like my kind of place! I think that'd be a great internship if I decide I want to go into Buying/Wholesaling which I think I might. I still have no freaking clue.
Second interview was with a clothing line called Karen Kane. They have their clothes at Nordstrom, Dillard's, Macy's, and Belk. This one is also unpaid, except I'd get reimbursed for mileage and have a clothing allowance. The job is basically a vendor rep, I'd go to the North Park Macy's/Dillard's and the Fort Worth & Mckinney Belk and merchandise their pad and sell clothes to customers. Not as crazy about that one, but she said all the interns have landed really good jobs afterwards. She'll let me know by Monday.
I'm supposed to hear from Dillard's by the end of this month. I told Morgan I'd e-mail her by the end of the week to let her know if I would like to take the internship or not, so I'm tempted to call Kathy from Dillard's and ask her the status and if it's still too early to make an offer. I don't know if it is unprofessional to tell her I have been made an offer somewhere else. The thing about the Dillard's internship that scares me is that I think it'd be a LOT of work and most likely I would have to move at the end. And by move, I mean to somewhere awful like Abilene or San Angelo.. no thanks! I like Dallas!
