Yep, it's official: no more spending on clothes, shoes, and/or accessories until (at least!) October 15th (only a month, I know, but difficult for me!).
Over the past two months, my 'clothing' line item in my budget has skyrocketed from around $75-100/month to, well, let's just say WAYYYY more than that. Between buying out the entire Adidas outlet (but seriously, $514 worth of Stella McCartney for $110!), handing over my life savings to Christian Siriano (on both his Payless line AND his Victoria's Secret makeup), retooling my entire purse/handbag wardrobe (mostly by Target, but still a pretty penny when you buy 5 bags) and adding the "fall essentials" to the ol' wardrobe (including a dvb knockoff dress, a leather jacket, and about 6 pairs of boots), I have shopped every corner of the world and have a packed closet - and empty wallet - to show for it.
It's time to cut back. As with anything in life, everything in moderation. Moreover, one of my favorite things to do is find some beat-up old tank top from 1998 in my closet and BAM - all of a sudden it's paired with ankle booties and torn jeans and it's adorable again. Constant consumption makes me lose my creativity...and we all know I don't have any of that to spare.
So it's set. No more buying of nonessentials (food, textbooks, gas) until - AT MINIMUM! - Founders Day. It helps that I won't be getting a paycheck until September 30th anyway. :)
