if you don't want to read a rant, don't keep reading.
The future of skateboarding has hopes. If people realize that it's just all about fun and just cruising down the street. Perhaps people will look back at skateboarding now from the not so distant future and realize how much fun we are and were having. Such as we did with Animal Chin. He had fun skateboarding. He was the first skateboarder! That's how it's supposed to be done then. Anyone and everyone who wants to will be able to skateboard and have fun with it. There will be no fads, and no passageways to acceptance. You don't have to nollie flip backside lipslide a handrail to get into this club. Nope. Membership is the fun your having, that's all it takes. Now, if you have fun skating 63492837 stair handrails, please, be my guest and do so. But for everyone that doesn't wanna skate these rails and such, go skate a curb. You're allowed to, it's okay. Go firecracker some stairs. People won't even have both facing sideways on the board. They will perhaps have their feet different ways, maybe facing forward next to each other. Some may do handstands, some may sit and skate, or whatever. Nothing will be important except for a good time. Everything will be skateable in this future i am talking about. No one will be kicked out of spots or anything for expressing themselves. That old lady at the store? she won't have any control over how you skate the bench in front of the store. The cops won't kick you out, hell they're even riding skateboards around. People will skate to school, the store, the music store, anywhere, and they will enjoy it. Of course you don't have to skate if you don't want to. Everyone can ride the board of their choice: modern, longboards, fat boards, skinny boards, shag carpet boards. Kids in the future will look on in amazement at guys like Steve Caballero and Mike Vallely and wonder how they did all that way back then. This could be ther future, if we hope for it. Skateboarding could turn out to be, after all, the only thing that saves us from ourselves.
