As my quests for a job and an agent continue, I find myself increasingly grateful for my job at Borders. Yeah, I've complained a lot about it in the past, but lately I've realized how lucky I am to have a job. Living in this horrible economy doesn't have as much to do with it as one might think. I'm just grateful to have something else to focus on than just my query and resume. Being busy with another job 32 hours a week definitely keeps my crazy to a minimum. While I would prefer a job with benefits and to be paid salary instead of hourly, I don't know many fresh college grads who can say they kept the same part time job the whole time they were in college. I hope this works to my advantage.
In other news:
- I'm going to a Black Eyed Peas concert in a few weeks. Not only will I get to see an guaranteed exciting performance, but I also will be meeting my future stepbrother for the first time.
- I've given up Facebook for Lent in hopes to break my unproductive habit. This backfired and resulted in me becoming mildly obsessed with other unproductive websites. I check Livejournal five times a day and have discovered a site called modcloth.com that might put a damper on my wallet in the near future. I want almost every dress I see, and while I haven't bought anything yet I feel it's only a matter of time before I cave.
- Only three more months before I can move out of my mother's house again! Don't get me wrong, I love her and my brother, but living with them makes it virtually impossible to work at home. I have to schedule my writing while they're sleeping or out. This is difficult because my brother is currently unemployed and wants to socialize whenever I sit down with my query or current WIP. I can't wait until I have my own office again!
- I've finally posted my resume as public on Monster! Hopefully it will only be a matter of time before an employer sees how awesome I am.
- My good friend Heather got proposed to on Valentine's Day. On Friday she asked me to stand in her wedding! It's not until October, but I have a feeling this is going to be another one of those things I'm grateful for keeping me busy. I'm so happy for her and her fiance, Frank! With this and my boyfriend's brother's wedding planned for November (he's the best man), I'm either going to be all wedding-ed out, or begging him to propose by the end of the year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. ; )
Well, I'm scheduled at Borders at noon tomorrow and it's almost 3 AM. I better get some shut eye now or I'll definitely be regretting it come morning.
