My "insert generic holiday name here"

I slept in.  My brain decided last night that yesterday was Friday and today was Sunday.  When else do I have a last day at work and a day home to sleep in and veg?

Our presents were all from my parents this year, and my mom went all out.  We forgot to get a tree, so Kris brought up the boxes to the warm bedroom and we loaded the bed up with presents.  The bed was full and heaping.  As always, a lot of it was food: the usual assortment of teas and chocolate, mixes for breads of various types, and jams and jellies.  There was a big jar of clotted cream this year and some yummy flavored coffees.

I got a furry sweater that makes me feel like a warm, soft, stuffed animal.  Good thing Kris isn't a furry or a plushie.  It's so sooooooft.  There were some gift cards and a stuffed animal.

Kris was amazed by the T-shirts that showed my mom does have a twisted sense of humor.  Where did he think I got it?

Our favorite presents, though, were the legos.  We stopped in the middle of unwrapping to put them together and play with them.

I don't really celebrate anything in particular, though days off from work dictate that we do or celebrating on Christmas, and since most places are closed, it means we stay home that day, too.  It is a season of holidays, though.  Many of my friends celebrate different ones, but everyone celebrates something.  Good will, generosity, and sharing are the rule for this time of year, and it's not a bad rule to have.

Do I need anything?  not really.  Do I want anything?  not overly.  I'm just glad for the friends I have.  I don't have anything to give this year, but I try to when I can.  It's not dictated by season.  If I see something I know a friend will like, and I can get it, I will.  There doesn't need to be a reason to do things for people.  It'd be nice if more people out there tried to spread the warm wishes of a few days or a month over the whole year.  So, if you want to give me a gift this year?  Do something unexpected for someone else in 2009.  Give them a gift, do something nice for them, take them to a favorite activity.  Just because they're your friend.  Good karma gets around, and the world needs more of it.
