Actually, now that Daiya brand cheese exists, I could make all of the four recipes I scrolled through on that community, vegan-style. And so can you! Plus Daiya is probably cheaper for you to get since it is made in Wisconsin. (Of course the Wisconsin came up with the first actually TASTY vegan cheese alternative!)
Yeah, it looks like the labor involved with assembling this beast would be "taxing," to say the least. But if someone else wanted to make it ... . Maybe you can con a friend (not me -- ha!) into tackling this recipe for your birthday next year!
amanda- I work two blocks away from the selby mississippi market where they sell it- no co-op request necessary. I can just pick it up some day. Want me to today- I can do it right now before I head out to see clients?
Hey! Cool! I didn't even think of that! Sure -- get some (key word: some. We'll splurge for the cheese party) if it seems reasonably priced. Stuart will adore you for it!
CHEESE-THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY? Where is my invitation???
Seriously though, how did I not think of that when parents were planning themed birthday parties for me. This is my new favourite childhood memory that never happened, ok?
I mean, MaryAlice is not even two yet, with a toddler-sized vocabulary; so our knowledge of her more arcane preferences is slightly limited. But when we proffer any sort of cheese product, she kind of quakes in anticipation and exclaims, "Cheese!" in a very Wallace-of-Wallace-and-Gromit kind of way. And, frankly, I'm going to enjoy this party a lot more than a Dora the Explorer themed bash ;-)

Thanks for the recommendation!
Did you ever see this recipe for the vegan version of the KFC Double Down? Hilarious.
