The next generation of Gigantic TV's? Projectors!
Why isn't everyone using projector technology? Haven just got a projector for gaming, movie watching, and general A/V use, and it's brilliantly simple! The projector is tiny and light, it automatically searches for the signal you want (no silly clicking through imputs with the remote on the TV) the screen can be as large as you like, assuming you have a flat, white wall somewhere, and frankly, projecting onto interesting textures just ADDS to the experience. The only drawbacks I've seen are the whole "Down in front!" thing when someone walks in front of the projector, and the low-lighting conditions needed in the area of the projection.
