Rapunzel walks out onto the dance floor not far from the table she was at, tugging Alex by the hand. The music is slow, with an easy rhythm, so she turns and places a her left hand on his shoulder, and holds up her right for him to take.

It never occurs to her for a moment that he might not know how, or might not like to dance.

He lets her guide him, palces his hands as indicated. "is that okay?" He's just a little nervous again.

"It's fine," she assures him, tugging him just a little closer. "I won't bite. Just move with the music."

"You won't bite? Too bad." He smiles, but is still nervous.

"I'm gonna level with you. I haven't been on a dance floor since high school. Not that I don't want to." And he really does. But this is so new.

"Not on a first date," she teases lightly.

She notes that he seems a little stiff and uneasy, and smile encouragingly.

"Dancing is easy these days. You don't have to know any special moves or steps, just sort of your feet around a bit in time to the music, and you'll be fine."

Alex tries to do that. To his relief, he doesn't step on her feet. "I think I can do that.

"I assume that you don't get to go dancing much either?"

"Not often, no. I can usually stay in a club a little long than other places, because with so many people, all moving around so quickly and going from place to place, I don't stand out much."

She smiles at his passable dancing, and follows along gamely.

"And I can be found dancing on my own at home, from time to time. Sometime the music just calls for it."

He takes a quick look over her shoulders. "We gonna need to stop and give you a trim at some point? Wouldn't want you to trip over your hair." He slowly gets into the rhythm.

"It depends on how long we stay," she says, observing the length, and seeing it is getting down to around her waist. "I suppose I should have cut it before coming, but I was running late. We have another hour before it starts to become a nuisance."

She does have a small, sharp pair of scissors in her purse, just in case.

"An hour sounds like a good amount of time." He smiles again, a little more relaxed.

"So, tell me. Do they have Christmas in Fabletown?"

She chuckles and says, "Yes, we do! In fact, Santa Clause is a Fable, though he doesn't live in New York, of course. He lives at the North Pole, stationed there to keep watch on that part of the world, in case the forces that drove us out of our homelands try to invade that area."

"Santa Claus...is real." He pauses, almost losing the beat. :"No, that shouldn't surprise me. And he really brings all those gifts...gee, if I'd have known, I would have been less naughty."

She laughs at that. "Have you been that naughty, Alex? He usually comes until people stop believing, then they're on their own. Fables believe in him because they know he's real. I met him once, a long time ago, my first Christmas away from the homelands."

"I once got a lump of coal for Christmas. Of course, it was from an ex and I was 20." He smriks.

"I don't think I ever believed in him. I'm a born cynic. And half-Jewish. I think I thought that he'd never come to my house." His dancing improves as he forgets his feet.

"Poor baby," she says with exaggerated sympathy. "Your world might have a different Santa Clause, who knows?"
