So I meant to post after my first day of training, but I didn't get a chance to, so I'll add it here.
This past Monday was the official start of my training, when my actual schedule started. It was a fantastic start! During the day I picked up my bike from the shop. I haven't had a usable bike to ride in over 5 years! So, since I was so excited to ride, I attached the bike trailer that we got last year and gave my girls a ride like they've never had before!
I rode 5 miles in the 90 degree heat with the sun out and pulling 70 pounds behind me. It was quite the workout, but great! And then I remmebered, oh yeah, this is my first day of training for the marathon, what was I thinking!? LOL
I wanted to say, scrap this, I'll start my training tomorrow. But in the evening, after an afternoon nap after the bike ride, I was feeling pretty good, so I decided to do the 30 min that was on the schedule.
It was a GREAT run! I had hardly any cramping and it was enjoyable running at night around my apartment complex listening to my music. A great first day of training!
Yesterday was a rest day from running, but I took a Pilates Reformer class in the morning, my first one, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Now, to today.......just about the complete opposite. Let's just say that Monday's run was successful and fun. Today's run was successful, and um.......NOT FUN! About half way into it I got the worst cramp in my ribs. It grew worse and worse and I had to really slow my pace, but I didn't stop jogging and finished the 30 minutes. But I was SO thankful when it was over. I think I may have eaten dinner too soon before running. Ah well, still glad I went though now that it's done! Gonna enjoy my rest day tomorrow.
I ran in a new area downtown and saw this pretty sign at the entrance to some historic homes.
