I went out wandering tonight
Found myself in that familiar place
Where we used to meet
In the night’s soft light face to face
Where I would anxiously await your arrival
And my heart would race
Where I sat as I watched you walk away
In a slow and steady pace
I lay back and I gaze up at the stars
The way we used to do
When we were an “us”
Not just me and you
I wonder if you’re out there
Where ever you may be
And looking at the same bright star
Thinking fondly of me
I inhale deeply
Taking in the night air
Crickets chirping their songs
Is the only thing I can hear
Exhaling, memories flood my mind
The first clumsy kiss
The way your hand felt in mine
I had never known love
Until I met you
Or so I thought at the time
It’s amazing what can happen
In the span of a year
Love found and love lost
A love I thought was sincere
Was it the innocence of a first love
Of just me being naive
I sit and wonder
About what never could be
