I have discovered that stress makes me bake, and I had a little this week, so you get a twofer.
The English Gingersnap
I know you are asking, "Amand-r, what makes them English"? Well after careful examination of multiple recipes, I have discovered the one difference-
It makes everything taste so…English! That's right. American Gingersnaps: no Nutmeg. English Gingersnaps: Nutmeg.
I have been told that kids help to sell things in advertising.
Ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, NUTMEG, cinnamon, ginger, egg, molasses, brown sugar, butter
Price: $6.50 per lagniappe (includes shipping)
Available: 4 dozen 1 dozen! SOLD OUT.
The Lemon Tea Loaf
Hi. I am a lemon tea loaf. My genealogy hails from The Satsuma Tea Room in Nashville, thought it's closed and is not called Union 417. That don't matter to me. I am a tart-ass bastard.
This is my posse. We've all been sorted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, American branch. There's lots of cookies here named Mary Sue.
So we're fixing to get the fresh hell out of here.
This was my sister, Irene. She was consumed in the name of science.
That flirty hussy.
Anyway, me and my pals are looking to be sold into consumption in the US, and WOW, is this character starting to turn creepy.
Anyway folks, I have three available lemon loaves. They are a little over a pound each, and they are tea loaf sized. Oh hell, I'll measure it: 5x2x2.5
These are not frosted. They are glazed with lemon juice and confectioner's sugar. This means that the glaze is actually tart, not sweet. But the inner cake has close to the density of the pound cake. They were repeatedly doused in glaze, then rolled in it, and then they dried a bit. They were wrapped still a bit damp, then frozen. When they are shipped, they will thaw on the trip to you, and when you open the box and unwrap it, the lemon goodness will knock you on your ass. Consume with tea or milk. Or brandy.
Ingredients: butter, sugar, eggs, flour, salt, baking soda, buttermilk, lemon zest, confectioners' sugar, lemon juice
Price: $8.50 each (includes shipping)
Available: Three. Two.
Thanks! Happy eating!
