Okay if I was….doing an episode run down of funny/awesome sci-fi tropes/themes whatever for a season of Torchwood, what would be fun to do? (Keep in mind this would be a post-CoE fourth season, not a s2 team ( Read more... )

"This day repeats itself" was also done on Trek, so I think that's spread out enough to be any fandom, and not just Buffy, so your safe there.

There's body switching, although I know you've already covered that. Reset button, where something happens and there's a reset button that goes back to before the bad stuff happened. Virus or machine that causes everybody to switch sexes. Immortals! Mysterious book that someone's reading and everything that happens in the book happens in real life. Alternate universe where they all meet their dopplegangers. Jack would get two Iantos!

agreed -- "This day repeats itself" is common enough to have its own name: Groundhog Day, after the 1990s film. So it is OPEN FOR BZNZ.

Also, second Ianto would need a beard.

LOL I know about groundhog day, but I wasn't sure of someone would look at that plot and say, "Jesus, buffy again?" especially in light of the voice stealing ep I have planned.

Buffy subverted some of my favorite gimmicks! damn them! *fistshake* BARROWMAN!

I will also point out that this was done on Xena before it was done on Buffy. :) Contained the single most satisfying moment of that entire show, when Xena chakrams Joxer (out of nowhere, to Gaby's perspective) as he's about to make a stupid comment for the nth time...and refuses to apologize for it. Brilliant. :D

Aw, does my bodyswap contain transfail? I was so careful!

If I could do 11 I would, but I suck. On the other hand 7 is a fantastic idea.

I wouldn't know, since I don't know trans issues well enough to judge. (Hell, I did a genderswap with the entire Justice League once. I'm afraid to reread now.)

Doing a musical story is in fact some of the sweetest evil you can ever achieve. If you have a buddy who filks, especially if they can filk ABBA songs, it would be totally worth it.

Well, the transfail thing is one of those thing that I'm like, "yeah, I can avoid fail to some extent, but there's a point where you people have to let it go." I didn't fuck wit the pronouns and I didn't make it all about Jack shoe shopping and Gwen cooking outdoors, so I don't get where it'd be in there. Oh well. Then again, until that meta I didn't know what people did gender swap stories in which they referred to the body's gender regardless of the person's gender. That seems...stupid.

My problem with the filk is that I don't care to read it. I'd rather see it, so a written musical ep does nothing for me.

I'd suggest a 'trapped in a fake reality' a la TOS' The Cage type of mindfuckery, but, uh, to be honest I doubt I could trust Torchwood to catch on to it...

I already have something like that, but you have a point about clueless TW!

The X-Files version had them being eaten by a giant hallucinogenic mushroom. TW wouldn't figure it out until they'd already been digested!

Haahahahahah Jack would be like, "guys, do you remember this happening to us a lot?"

Gwen would be all, "uhm no."

"right. guns out then."

I'd like to see other parts of "armor" found. Just the gauntlets made it through the Rift? I don't think so.

And I wouldn't worry about stealing ideas from other shows. Chances are they stole it from someone else, anyway. ;)

Ooooo. There are so many good fanfics out there that have already covered this, I'd be afraid to try. But yeah, what if they got like, the helmet?

hmm... since we're on buffy - is there a "transformation" trope?
i'm thinking of when giles is turned into a demon, but maybe it's a bit of tech that can... i dunno, make the person appear like, or maybe even actually turn them into, an alien (for infiltration purposes or something), but the team doesn't understand how it works and they have to figure... STUFF out!
that's all i got this late in the day

i think if anyone could do it, you could!
(i'm curious how you're doing 'hush' though - i mean, it's sort of relient on visuals, with the hand-gestures and lip-reading... i can't wait!)

It's a lot of gestures. Jack and Mags resurrect tosh's translator keypads, but everyone either sound like steven hawking or for some strange reason, Owen.

Dee refuses to use the keypad and just has a flashcard that says, "NO."
